As summer rolls in, the days get longer, and the sun gets warmer, everyone in Edinburgh breathes a collective sigh of relief. Gone (mostly) are the days of scarves, coats, and endless chilly days. There is no better way to celebrate this turn of weather than sitting in a sunny pub with good company. So, here are my top beer gardens in Edinburgh that you should try this summer.
The Pear Tree

Everyone is familiar with The Pear Tree – and this is for good reason. Nestled in the heart of Newington, with lots of tables, student deals, and a big sports screen, The Pear Tree makes the evening slip away alarmingly quickly. It’s best to get there early to ensure you get a table, but The Pear Tree has an atmosphere that you can’t miss.
Black Ivy

Black Ivy, in Bruntsfield, has a great outdoor seating terrace, warm lighting and is full of plants. As well as great pints, the cocktail menu at the Black Ivy is extensive and they are all delicious. Whilst the Black Ivy doesn’t have your traditional pub garden layout, it is a great place to spend a chilled evening in the summer warmth.
Grassmarket Pubs

This isn’t a recommendation of one pub, but rather a multitude. The pubs in Grassmarket (like Biddy Mulligans, The Last Drop, and Cold Town House), all have stunning views of Edinburgh castle. A Grassmarket pub crawl could become a very enjoyable night…
The Golf Tavern

Whilst this isn’t necessarily a pub garden, The Golf Tavern has some great outdoor seating that overlooks the beautiful meadows. If you fancy something to do, the pub lends you golf clubs (for free!) – so have a game with your friends on the Bruntsfield Links and soak up the sunshine!

Definitely trying these out. Thanks!
